Eden Shimoni, a 26-year-old from Herzliya, was killed on Sunday in a car accident on the island of Aruba, where he had lived and worked selling toiletries.
The Israeli Consul in The Hague and the Department for Israelis Abroad at the Foreign Ministry are assisting the family in transferring his coffin to Israel.
Eden is survived by his mother Oshrat and his two sisters, Yarden and Adi.
Zaki, Oshrat's partner, told the Israel Hayom newspaper that Eden had worked in the Bahamas in recent months. "He was killed in a car accident, we do not know much about the accident. He worked there selling toiletries.”
"He was a charming and smiling kid who always gave his all and helped everyone. In the army he served in the Armored Corps and the Artillery Corps and was an outstanding soldier. He was an amazing guy. In his last messages to the family he wrote that he was in heaven. Now he really is in heaven."
The funeral will likely take place on Tuesday. "It's hard to deal with," Zaki added. "We are having trouble accepting it, everyone hopes that maybe this is not true. A huge tragedy happened to us.”
