A stabbing attack was thwarted by Israeli security officers Wednesday afternoon at the Kalandia checkpoint north of Jerusalem.

The incident took place after a bus carrying a group of Arabs arrived at the checkpoint and was stopped for inspection.

One young Arab aroused security officers' suspicions. Because he was not carrying a proper identification card, the security officers asked him to get off the bus for a more detailed inspection.

He descended from the bus but objected to the inspection, instead pulling a knife out of his pant's pocket.

A security officer noticed the knife and overpowered the would-be terrorist, who was identified as a 17-year-old from Shechem. He has been taken into custody for questioning.

No Israeli officers was injured in the incident.
